Geraldine brooks biography5/20/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Her dedication and strong resolve to tell a compelling story through her articles allowed her to receive the Overseas Press Club’s Hal Boyle Award for “Best Newspaper or Wire Service Reporting from Abroad” in 1990.īrooks’ first book Nine Parts of Desire was released in 1994. Work brought her to many countries in crisis across the globe, allowing her to travel to Africa, the Balkans, and the Persian Gulf to report on the news directly at the source. Soon after graduation, she became a foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal. After winning the Greg Shackleton Memorial Scholarship, Brooks moved to New York City and obtained her Master’s degree in journalism at Columbia University. ![]() Geraldine Brooks is an award-winning writer and journalist from Sydney, Australia. ![]()
